My Reflection: The Pencil by Paulo Coelho

The story seemed so simple at its introduction, but just like the story's message, it depends on how you look at simple things and how you interpret the simple presentation of the story.

After hearing the story, my perspective in life broadened. The story hit the reality that same as the pencil, we, as mankind has five characteristics as well: We need someone who will guide us in order for us to perform our capabilities in a most purposive way; if the pencil needs us, we need God as our sole guide. Second, if the pencil need to bear the blade of the sharpener to improve its writing quality, we also goes through the pain of life's tough challenges that would hone us to become a better person. Third, the pencil has its eraser to delete errors, it simply implies that in life, as individuals, it's possible that we commit mistakes, but we should not hold on to that and let that mistake make a mark of dirt in our lives, we should strive to erase that mistake and move on. Fourth, the pencil's design doesn't matter at all, it is what its content, its lead. Just like us persons, the most important about us is what goes inside. Our core values and characters that makes our whole personality. And last, the pencil and us will someday somehow fade away but will always leave a mark.

Learning by Doing

"Tell me, and i'll forget. Show me, and I may not remember. Involve me, and i'll understand."

Says the Preschooler. ^^,
In my 3rd year with my course (Bachelor of Elem. Ed. -Major in Preschool) I learned a lot of theories and principles of teaching from my major subjects. And as to site one is the principle of involving the child to all activities in order for him to learn. The learning by doing theory of John Dewey, emphasized that in order for the child to learn, let him understand what is it about by getting him involve in the teaching-learning process. Let him do the activity by himself. I believe that in just demonstrating and discussing the lesson  alone, you may had the child's attention but in a matter of seconds, everything will fade. However, if you explain, demonstrate and at the same time let him manipulate things, he would absorb what he had experienced and apply it in some other situations.
Let's not burden ourselves in carrying all the responsibilities to integrate and pass the lesson to our preschoolers. Let them learn on their own at their own level.

Beauty Beyond

Failure. Earlier today I recieved a bad news: Of not being one of the contemporary contestants for the  upcoming event to be held at BSU-Main Campus. I had longed to perform for the second time  at BSU- main . I worked hard and literally broke a leg for it yet I wasn't chosen to be one. Before my panic reached an uncontrollable level, the other side of me nudged me in my heart. "Sit back and relax." Silence. Closed my eyes and ceased the tear that starts to fall from my left eye. I opened my mind. Moved my head a little to the left. Wow. Projects, assignments, demonstrations, IM's, paperworks. And moved a little to the right. Fantastic! Contemporary dance Competition to be choreographed, Cheerdance , folkdance screening and Sleepover at Ate nekai's place. I spent my whole time shifting from the left side to the right. I wasn't bothered  anymore by the obstructing bad news. I realized there was beauty beyond that failure. It didn't matter anymore that it took some effort for me to see it. Thank God. He taught me a lesson today. I realized that sometimes when a door closes, there's plenty of doors that opens. And a failure is not a failure at all. It's a way of opening new opportunities that has been set aside.
We should not allow obstructions of any sort to decieve you into thinking that what you see is all that has been set for you. Make a little effort. Search for a brighter view. Don't be stumped by impediments that seem larger than life. There's a beauty beyond. A truth that is far more glorious than anything you've ever seen.

Facebook

Facebook is a social utility that connects people with friends and others who work, study and live around. However, it became a menace to the whole wide world.

It is addicting! Too much addiction will often kill your valuable time. Using Facebook for your need is not bad but when we waste most of our time, it's a risk. Fake profile is one of the biggest hazard of Facebook. People often use fake profile to insult or harass someone. Another, plenty of groups and fan pages out there which is being created to abuse or violate other religion, personalities and nation.

Fogging for the Continuing Global Threat

Dengue fever is an ever present threat in our country and often the health authorities carry out fogging to destroy that adult Aides Egypt Mosquitoes that carry the disease causing virus.

But as far as I'm concerned, our barangay has only performed the fogging since we lived there. And I ought to believe that maybe the officials think that dengue virus has gone away. Until I've heard one of our neighbors was hospitalized due to dengue fever, and another then another. I was quite disappointed with the inability of the barangay officials. Until I became a victim and survived. But now that my baby sister is one of the victim, I will formally pass a letter for an action. The threat is now just roaming around our barangay. Jumping and flying happily when they catch another victim.

The smoke of fogging should dissipate as soon as possible. I cannot wait for another victim to suffer with that viral threat.

Fogging was an effective way of destroying mosquitoes but it did not eradicate them, for soon the algae that were living in the water would soon emerge as adult mosquitoes to bit and possibly endanger us once again, so for once cleaning is another name/way of fogging.
